How to use the 10 Minute Timer
- The timer is already set to 10 minutes. Press Start or the space bar.
- Press it again to pause, and Reset (or R) to go back to the start.
- When time is up, an alarm plays and the screen flashes. Click Stop alarm to silence it.
- Need a different time? Change the boxes or pick another preset below the clock.
What a 10 minute timer is good for
- Classrooms: reading time, quizzes and group work.
- Cooking: most dried pasta cooks in 8–12 minutes.
- Tidying: a ten-minute clean-up sprint gets a surprising amount done.
- Meditation, stretching and short workouts.
Accurate in the background
The countdown is measured against your device's clock, not by counting ticks, so 10 minutes is exactly 10 minutes even when you switch to another tab. The time left also shows in the tab title. On phones, keep the screen on so the alarm can play.
