How to use the CPS Test: Click Speed Test
- Choose a test length. 5 seconds is the most common.
- Click (or tap) inside the blue box. The timer starts with your first click.
- Keep clicking until the time runs out, then see your CPS and rank.
- Click again to restart. Your best score for each length is saved in your browser.
What's a good CPS?
- Under 5 CPS: relaxed clicking.
- 6–7 CPS: average for most people.
- 8–10 CPS: fast, typical for regular gamers.
- 11–14 CPS: very fast, usually using a technique like jitter clicking.
- 14+ CPS: elite. Butterfly and drag clicking can reach 20 or more.
Clicking techniques
Jitter clicking tenses the arm muscles so the hand vibrates over the button. Butterfly clicking alternates two fingers on the same button. Drag clicking slides a finger across the button so friction makes it bounce. Take breaks: fast clicking for long periods strains the wrist and can damage your mouse.
Why test CPS?
Click speed matters in games like Minecraft PvP, idle clickers and rhythm games. It's also a quick way to check that a mouse button isn't double-clicking or missing clicks.
