How to use the MP4 to MP3 Converter
- Drop video or audio files into the box, or click choose files. You can add several.
- Choose MP3 or WAV, and the MP3 quality. 192 kbps is a good default.
- Optionally switch to mono, or make quiet recordings louder with Normalize.
- Click Convert, then download each file, or all of them as a ZIP.
Which MP3 quality should I choose?
| Bitrate | Size per minute | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 128 kbps | about 1 MB | Speech, podcasts, voice notes |
| 192 kbps | about 1.4 MB | Music on phones and laptops |
| 320 kbps | about 2.4 MB | The best MP3 quality |
Converting can't add quality that wasn't there: a 128 kbps source saved at 320 kbps just makes a bigger file.
Which files work?
The audio is decoded by your browser, so it handles the formats your browser can play. MP4, M4A, MP3, WAV, OGG, Opus, FLAC and WebM work in all modern browsers. MOV and MKV usually work in Chrome and Edge. WMA and AMR usually can't be opened. Very long or very large videos need plenty of memory. Files of a few hundred MB are fine on most computers.
Private by design
Your files are converted right in your browser and never uploaded. MP3s are made with LAME, the open-source MP3 encoder, through the lamejs library.
