How to use the Webcam Recorder
- Click Turn on camera and allow camera and microphone access.
- Choose the quality, and the camera if you have more than one.
- Click ● Record. After the countdown, start talking. Use Pause for breaks.
- Click ■ Stop, watch it back, and click Download.
Look and sound your best
- Light in front of you: face a window or a lamp. Light behind you turns you into a silhouette.
- Camera at eye level: raise your laptop on a few books so you're not looking down into it.
- Look at the camera, not at yourself on the screen, so viewers feel you're talking to them.
- Quiet room: close windows and turn off fans. Soft furnishings reduce echo.
Mirror preview
The preview is mirrored by default, like looking in a mirror, because that feels natural. The saved video isn't mirrored, so text on your shirt or a whiteboard behind you reads correctly.
Format and privacy
Videos are saved as MP4 in browsers that support it (recent Chrome, Edge and Safari) and as WebM in Firefox. The recording stays in your browser until you download it, and nothing is uploaded. Want to check your camera first? Try the webcam test.

Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in Chrome and Safari on Android and iPhone. Choose the front or back camera from the Camera list.
Is the saved video mirrored?
No. Only the preview is mirrored. The recording shows the scene as others see it.
Is there a time limit?
No. Long recordings use more memory, so download them as you go.
Is my video uploaded?
No. It stays in your browser until you download it.
