How to use the Free QR Code Generator

  1. Choose what the QR code should do: open a link, join Wi-Fi, send an email, call or text.
  2. Fill in the details. The preview updates as you type.
  3. Optionally change the colors, error correction and quiet zone.
  4. Click Download PNG for documents and social posts, or Download SVG for print and design tools.
  5. Test the code with your phone camera before you print it.

Static QR codes that never expire

Many QR sites create dynamic codes that point to their own short link, then stop working or demand a subscription later. The codes made here are static: your link, Wi-Fi details or text are stored directly inside the pattern. There's no redirect in between, so the code keeps working as long as the content does, and nobody tracks who scans it.

Wi-Fi QR codes for guests

Choose Wi-Fi, enter the network name (SSID) and password, and pick the security type (almost always WPA/WPA2). Guests point their camera at the code and tap to join, with no password typing. It's handy for cafés, offices, Airbnb listings and your living room. Everything is generated in your browser, so your Wi-Fi password is never sent anywhere.

Tips for QR codes that scan every time

  • Size: print at least 2 × 2 cm (0.8 in) for close-up scanning. For posters, aim for about one tenth of the scanning distance.
  • Contrast: use a dark code on a light background. Light-on-dark and low-contrast colors fail on many phones, and the tool warns you about both.
  • Quiet zone: keep the blank border (4 modules is the standard). Don't place the code right against other artwork.
  • Error correction: higher levels (Q or H) survive scratches and smudges but make the pattern denser. M is a good default.
  • Short content scans faster: a shorter URL gives a simpler pattern that's easier to scan from far away.
  • Use SVG for print: it scales to any size without blurring.

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many codes you make. You can use the codes commercially, on packaging, menus, flyers and business cards.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. They are static codes with your content stored directly in the pattern, so there's no service in between that can switch them off.

Can I track how many people scan my QR code?

Not with a static code, since nothing sits between the scan and your link. To count scans, point the code to a URL with UTM parameters and check your website analytics.

Is my Wi-Fi password safe?

Yes. The QR code is generated in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Keep in mind that anyone who scans the printed code can join your network.

What's the difference between PNG and SVG?

PNG is a regular image, best for documents, websites and social media. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, best for printing and design tools like Illustrator, Figma or Canva.

What does error correction do?

It adds redundancy so the code still scans if part of it is dirty or damaged. L recovers about 7% of the code, M 15%, Q 25% and H 30%. Higher levels make a denser pattern.
