How to use the Pitch Changer
- Drop an audio file into the box, or click choose a file.
- Drag Pitch, or click a preset. One step is one semitone; 12 is a full octave.
- Listen to the result, then click Download.
Changing the key of a song
A semitone is the smallest step in Western music, one key on a piano. Moving a song down 2 semitones takes it from E to D, for example. Singers often drop a song 1 to 3 semitones to reach high notes comfortably.
Voices
Lowering a voice by 3 to 5 semitones makes it sound deeper; raising it by 5 or more gives a cartoon effect. Large shifts sound less natural, which is expected: real voices change their tone, not just their pitch.
Frequently asked questions
Does changing the pitch change the speed?
No. The audio is time-stretched so the length stays the same.
How do I find what key a song is in?
Play along on an instrument, or look it up. Then shift by the number of semitones between the original key and the one you want.
