Remove EXIF Data From Photos

Remove the hidden location, date and camera details from your photos before you post, sell or send them. Drop in your photos, check what they reveal, and download clean copies. The pictures aren't re-compressed, so they look exactly the same, and they never leave your device.

How to use the Remove EXIF Data From Photos

  1. Drop your photos into the box or click choose files. You can add many at once.
  2. Check the red tags: GPS location, date and time, camera model or serial number.
  3. Click Download clean photo, or download them all as a zip.
  4. Share the clean copies instead of the originals.

When to remove photo metadata

  • Selling online: photos of things you sell on marketplaces are often taken at home, and may show your address in their GPS data.
  • Sending files: email attachments, cloud links and "send as document" keep every detail of the original photo.
  • Blogs, forums and websites: many keep the original file, so anyone can download it and read the data.
  • Dating apps and classifieds: anything that could reveal where you live or work is worth removing.

What's removed

All EXIF data (camera, lens, settings, date and time, GPS location, serial numbers, thumbnails), XMP and IPTC data (editing history, captions, names and copyright notes), comments, and text notes in PNG files. The picture itself, its color profile and the rotation are kept, unless you untick them.

Check what's left

Every photo is read again after cleaning, and a ✓ Clean label shows that no metadata is left. You can also drop the clean file back in to see for yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Will the photo look different?

No. The image data is copied unchanged, so the clean photo looks exactly the same. It's usually a little smaller.

Can I remove only the location?

This tool removes all the metadata at once, which is the safest choice. The color profile and rotation can be kept.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any modern browser. On iPhone, choose photos in Most Compatible (JPG) format; HEIC files can only be viewed.
