How to use the Age Difference Calculator
- Enter the first person's date of birth.
- Enter the second person's date of birth.
- Read the age difference and who is older. The order doesn't matter.
How the age difference is calculated
The calculator counts from the older person's birthday to the younger person's birthday: whole years first, then whole months, then the remaining days. Someone born on 3 March 1990 and someone born on 15 August 1993 are 3 years, 5 months and 12 days apart.
The gap stays the same throughout their lives, but how it feels changes. Ten years is huge between a 5-year-old and a 15-year-old, and hardly noticeable at 45 and 55.
Uses
- Siblings and twins: exactly how far apart were they born?
- Couples: the age gap down to the day.
- Family history: the gap between parents and children, or between generations.
- Sports and school: compare players' or students' ages within a group.
Frequently asked questions
Does it matter which birthday I enter first?
